Hi there. I'm not here to troll nor to cause trouble (although I will be honest and say that I am a member of sf_drama, which is how I came to be aware of you). I hope I am not wasting your time or making you uncomfortable.
I do not regularly read your journal, but a few days ago I happened to click on your username, and being an Aussie the word "Australia" stood out to me. I can't quite remember how, but I followed some links and came across a page where you'd posted pictures of Aussie "obscurities". Quite a few of the latter happened to be shots of American whiskys, as well as a comment about the gross difference in price.
Over here you are probably aware that they price alchohol very highly, at about $30 for a bottle of scotch, and obviously the fact the Yank whiskys were imported would make them more costly. However, I was genuinely shocked at how cheap you said whisky was in the US! And as something like JDs is popular or considered to be decent (hahaha) over here, it did not occur to me that it may be different over there, especially since so much advertising has reached our country.
I'm curious: what would be considered a decent American whisky to an actual American?
